Food Review: Quan Ji Teochew Mee

(located in Bedok Interchange Food Centre)

Teochew Noodles
Price: $3/$4 (pictured $3)

Weekday quick breakfast with wife. We went over to Bedok to eat Bedok Chwee Kueh and also to try this stall that seemed popular. There was a queue throughout the period we were there.

First to the ingredients. The usual Teochew noodles' ingredients include fish cake slides, minced meat, porkball, pork slices and pork lard.

The soup was flavourful and old school style. Good old porky flavour was there although the flavour was not empowering. Ingredients used were very fresh. Decent but nothing special as well. It doesn't really stand out much.

The noodles were a little overcooked and a little more mushy. The chilli was quite unique. It was not exactly the sambal chilli you would get usually but it exhibited a little raw chilli spice taste. It wasn't exceptional but decent still. The whole bowl of noodles were a little more on salty side and the noodles were tossed with fried onion oil which gave it a nice flavour. However, don't expect any extra unique unami flavour.

In summary, the noodles were alright and in fact, the quantity was more than usual, probably the reason why there were people queuing.
