Food Review: Hainan Xing Zhou Beef Noodle
(located in Blk 22 Kim Keat Palm Food Centre)
Traditional Beef Noodles (Dry)
Price: $4/$5/6/$7 (pictured mixed meats $6)
The ingredients consists of thick vermicelli, beef balls, beef tripes, tendons, beef slices, bean sprouts, salted vegetables in general. Very standard traditional ingredients.
The taste of the dry vermicelli is thick and gooey with dark sauce. Slightly sweet on sauce and not herbal based. All meats are fresh and flavourful and come with a light sesame oil flavour. If you don't like that, can ask the auntie to skip the sesame oil. The beef balls are pretty decent with beef taste and springy texture.
Chilli sauce packs a punch with a good chilli traditional flavour.
The highlight in my opinion is the soup. The soup is not clear but flavourful with beef and a slight hint of sweetness. If you are looking for herbal type, this soup is definitely not for you. However if you are a fan of beef based soup, this is the one that you would appreciate.
If you want more soup, ask for one extra bowl or go for the $5 beef slices soup, but take note it's slightly milder compared to the one that comes with the noodles probably due to the mix. If you want it to be stronger, skip the bean sprouts. Should be a lot better.
