Food Review: 58 Minced Meat Mee
(located in Blk 58 Bedok South Food Centre)
Minced Meat Noodles
Price: $2.50 (no dumpling) / $3 (with dumplings)
Having some time in the morning and decided to come back to my childhood market place for breakfast.
Definitely choosing the famous minced meat noodles here. One thing to note for people who want to visit. They are now shortening their opening days to Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
The ingredients were simple. Yellow noodles, pork lard, minced pork and meat dumplings, if you get the $3 version. Simple and unpretentious.
Next to the flavour. The broth was strong and flavourful with porky flavour and laced with good pork lard.
The noodles were cooked to al dente perfection and mixed together with tender minced pork pieces. When you placed the mixture of noodles, lard, soup and meat into your mouth, what you can expect is a very satisfying mix of flavour from the well-cooked broth. Cannot really go wrong with this stall till date (I only had it once when they had a big miss in their broth, not sure what happened).
Their dumplings were also different. It was based on minced meat but it also had pieces of salted fish alike meat that made the dumpling bursting with meat contrast flavour and that hint of saltiness was not something you get from pure salt. The dumpling skin was not the thinnest but just nice to hold the meat together.
In summary, one of my favourite minced meat noodles and it's different from Fengshan Food Centre one which is only served in the evening (this stall operates till noon time thereabout).
Do not mistake this with another stall just along the opposite lane. The taste difference is pretty huge.
